My java wasn't installed so I just installed the latest version. I followed Sun's instructions to the letter but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions on troubleshooting this thing?
It seems my java didn't install correctly. My computer has also decided it doesn't want to read my install disc from YAST I uninstalled the latest version of java, now I don't have any installed. I'm going to try again tonight.
Okay, I have it functioning now, but things are displaying kind of funny with Java and some things don't work at all. Is there a painless way to update to a newer version?
Not foolish at all. Suse is aim at businesses and Ubuntu is meant for the masses. There are a lot of people who like Ubuntu, there are some who have had problems with it installing. Mostly complaints about it freezing during the installation. That's mostly likely hardware related.
Ubuntu is bleeding edge and therefore not compatible with some hardware. If you have an old system or a very new system with top of the line hardware, Ubuntu won't play well with the hardware.
