Thanks to the Dude for the heads up on resetting wireless router password from default. Following on from that I noted the comment about having a firewall other than Windows which would monitor/block both incoming and outgoing traffic. Having read my manual, when given the option to enable the router firewall it recommends it be done by somebody with DSL knowledge and that's not me. Is anyone able to give me a steer on setup, it is a Zoom ADSL X6 router, and I have XP (HE) 2002 version SP2, Celeron 2.53Ghz with 256MB RAM.(I've tried to update to SP3 but have a stubborn redirect which is preventing me from navigating to the MS Update site)
The Firewall is enabled and configured from the Advanced Setting Menu of the router.
Do you have the User Manual?
You are receiving a persistent pop-up that you can not remove. Follow the instructions in our Malware Cleaning Guide; and post the necessary logs in a new thread in the Malware Removal Forum.
You should take care of this first before altering the security configuration of your router.
