Hey everyone, since you got me going on Linux back in September, I've been doing pretty well and been able to get things working. I've switched to Ubuntu 7.10 and life has been good.
Cutting to the chase, I decided that I liked Ubuntu so well on my desktop, that I would install it on my laptop. I've been using Ubuntu 7.10 32 bit, but because my laptop has a 64 bit processor, I went with Ubuntu 7.10 64 bit edition.
Everything installs correctly, everything seems to be working and looks as should with the exception of the title bar and the text size when you type inside the login box.
Both are in a huge font, something like size 72 font and I can't quite grasp why. Have you ever seen anything like this? I went looking through the settings briefly last night and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but I'll double check to see if I might have missed something.
What you described is certainly strange and I haven't seen that happen myself. I've had my screen resolution changed to a lower resolution at boot, because the monitor wasn't properly detected. A shut down, turning off the monitor, and then turning it back on and power up has solved it each time.
Depending on how much time I have...sure. Just as long as it's okay if I post them up on my personal site too. I've already written 2 or 3 of them because the way I figure it, if I need to know how to do some of these things, then doubtlessly there are other people who are going to want to do the same thing.
Now that I have Linux on my laptop, I can do some of this stuff at work.
Excellent. Thanks. I'm probably going to have to postpone any publishing because I just found out today that I got approved to go on a cruise in 2 weeks. YAY!
